It is along the national road n°75 leading to Amizour in the wilaya of Bejaia that we find craftsmen who continue to manufacture terracotta bricks and tiles. Indeed, the banks of the Oued Soummam nearby, constitute a wet and dry zone giving rise to a land composed of organic and mineral materials at the origin of artisanal manufacture of building materials well used in the region, a heritage of father to son unfortunately endangered
The manufacture is done manually in three stages: extraction of the earth, molding, then drying at a temperature of around 800 degrees and which gives the red and definitive color to these materials
Although no longer used in the construction of Kabyle houses these days, they are now of interest to buyers from other wilayas, used for the restoration of houses and palaces of the Kasbah, for the decoration of restaurants, brand stores, for various pavings gardens, but also for the roof of industrial hangars given their thermal characteristics. The price of a brick (10x20x3cm) costs about twenty dinars, while the tile about fifty dinars
