Dinosaurs did indeed exist in North Africa. Fossils were discovered in 1999 in the desert region of Rouis El Djir 50 km west of Ain Sefra. The excavation work was able to collect more than 300 bones and vertebrae of a species called "Giant of Ksour" from the Sauropod family: a small herbivorous dinosaur measuring between 8 and 9 meters long which lived during the Middle Jurassic period. 161 to 175 million years ago.
It was the Swiss architect Daniel Grataloup, known for his architecture with organic shapes, having notably created the tourist village of Ain Temouchent, who was commissioned in 2004 to build this small site museum to welcome specialists from all over the world and to highlight security the most beautiful pieces found on site.
