The Kawa & Garo café is a small neighborhood business located in the Tétreaultville district in the city of Montreal.
Designed by Smith Vigeant architects, the place combines the traditions and flavors of Algerian cuisine with the atmosphere and qualities of a new kind of café. The simplicity of the palette of materials and the fresh and bright aesthetics of the place highlight the pastries and small dishes concocted on site.
The geometric mosaic patterns that adorn the walls and floors give the space its unique character. The colored diamonds are a playful and contemporary reinterpretation of Kabyle craftsmanship, a little nod to the origins of the owners, while the brass lights are inspired by the shape of oil lamps from the Maghreb souks.
The dining area, designed for the café's family clientele, offers a warm atmosphere with its benches and tables in natural oak. The main facade is generously fenestrated, flooding the high counter that is set up there with natural light. A long, immaculate white service counter scrolls through the space. Aesthetic and functional, the counter has been custom-designed to integrate different equipment and showcase carefully prepared food products.
This project was ranked Winner in its category at the Grand Prix du Design 2021

قهوة و قارو هو مشروع حي صغير يقع في مدينة منتريال
تم تصميم المكان من قبل المهندس المعماري "سميث فيجينت" ، يجمع المكان بين تقاليد ونكهات المطبخ الجزائري وأجواء وصفات نوع جديد من المقاهي. تبرز بساطة لوحة المواد وجماليات المبنى المنعشة الحلويات والأطباق المعدة في المقهى
الفسيفساء الهندسية التي تزين الجدران والأرضيات مستوحات من الزرابي و الحرف اليدوية في منطقة القبائل ، في حين أن الأضواء النحاسية مستوحاة من شكل المصابيح الزيتية من أسواق المغربي
تتميز القاعة الكبيرة بأجواء دافئة بمقاعدها وطاولاتها المصنوعة من الخشب الطبيعي. الواجهة الرئيسية مغطاة بسخاء ، مما يغار الفضاء بالضوء الطبيعي. ، تم تصميم العداد خصيصًا لدمج المعدات المختلفة وتسليط الضوء على المنتجات الغذائية المعدة بعناية.
نال هذا المشروع جائزة في "الدزين" سنة 2021
